Welcome to Crush & Fade, our weekly series where we break down the current PGA Tour event and recap the previous tournament.
3M Open Recap
Kurt Kitayama is your 2025 Champion. That’s all. This one was kind of a dud, and no offense to Mr. Kitayama, but the 3M just didn’t deliver much star power on the leaderboard.
After barely making the cut by one stroke, Kitayama went on to shoot 60–65 on the weekend and won by one stroke over Sam Stevens. Enough said, let’s move on.
Wyndham Championship Preview
We’re almost to the FedEx Playoffs, and pressure is mounting for the players hovering around the Top 70 in points.
The Wyndham is always a fun tournament with consistent themes focused on accuracy. Sedgefield is a true test of overall game, playing as a par 70 and tipping out at 7,131 yards. The primary rough will be 2.5 inches, and the greens are rolling at 12.5 on the Stimpmeter. Weather might be a factor, with storms likely during the first two rounds.
Aaron Rai won here last year at -18. This year, the shortest odds belong to Matt Fitzpatrick at +2000. Let’s hope for a fun and competitive week.
Sandman’s Top Bets
This course clearly favors certain players. I’m leaning into both historical performance at Sedgefield and recent form coming into the week.

- Matt Fitzpatrick to Win (+2000)
Matt’s been locked in over the past month, stacking Top 10s. While he hasn’t played Sedgefield in a while, his current form is too good to ignore. - Ben Griffin Top 5 (+600)
I’ve been on Ben all summer. After finally running out of gas during the UK swing, I expect him to be refreshed and ready to bounce back here. - Jake Knapp Top 10 (+475)
With power, accuracy, and form, Knapp checks all the boxes. He’s never competed at Sedgefield, which gives me slight pause, but I like his fit too much to pass up. - Keegan Bradley Top 20 (+150)
Captain Keegan has said he’s playing the best golf of his career. He’s had strong finishes here in three appearances, and I expect another good showing as he continues his Ryder Cup push.
CRUSH PLAYS:
- Matt Fitzpatrick WIN +2000
- Ben Griffin TOP 5 +600
- Jake Knapp TOP 10 +475
- Keegan Bradley TOP 20 +150
Sandman’s Fade
Picking fades can be tricky since we’re not placing a direct bet. We’re simply looking for chalkier plays that could struggle. This week, my fade is focused on one name.
Sungjae Im
When he’s on, Sungjae plays aggressively and fires at pins. But he just hasn’t been sharp in 2025. I’m not sure he and caddie Willy Wilcox will figure it out this week.
FADE PLAYS:
- Sungjae Im WIN +6000
- Sungjae Im TOP 10 +600
- Sungjae Im TOP 20 +275
Good luck this week, Sandman Nation! And may all your bets land squarely on the green.
