Top Waiver Wire Targets For Week 3 Fantasy Football

Two weeks of the NFL season gives us plenty of data to start drawing conclusions. It might seem early, but fantasy managers can benefit from being proactive. Some injuries will leave you scrambling for replacements, particularly if your team was reliant on Brock Purdy or Joe Burrow.

A few players have seen their snap count come in much lower than expected. Others have been given a bigger role in the offense than the depth chart suggested or have been the beneficiaries of an injury to a teammate.

Here are a few players worth taking a chance on from the waiver wire:

Jake Browning

With Joe Burrow ruled out for three months with a turf toe injury, Jake Browning becomes an intriguing streamer quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Only rostered in 4.6% of NFL Fantasy leagues, Browning should be available to pick up with limited competition. He started seven games in 2023, along with two appearances off the bench, and averaged more points per game than Tua Tagovailoa and Geno Smith. In starts, he was ahead of Trevor Lawrence and Matthew Stafford.

This Bengals offense is potent, even without Burrow. Browning might not be an ideal option to start against this Vikings defense, but there are some favorable matchups to come.

Wan’Dale Robinson

Coming off 142 yards and a touchdown in Week 2, Wan’Dale Robinson has been a very popular waiver claim in fantasy football. Robinson has had the third-highest share of third-down targets in the NFL.

The Giants are facing a Chiefs team which has been no better than mediocre defensively through the first two weeks. Robinson’s 18 targets after two games is the second-most of any WR2.

Even if you’re not confident in this Giants offense, the game script is forcing them to pass the ball regularly. The targets are there for Robinson to be a fantasy asset.

Jake Ferguson

Juwan Johnson is the only tight end to have been targeted more frequently than Jake Ferguson. The latter leads all tight ends in receptions.

While his value in PPR leagues hasn’t been eye-catching so far, Ferguson is clearly an integral cog in Dallas’ offense.

The Cowboys are facing a Bears team which has conceded 39.5 points per game so far with a league-worst 9.2 net yards per attempt. Chicago has conceded seven touchdowns in the air (no other team has conceded more than four).

If you don’t have Tucker Kraft, Tyler Warren, or Trey McBride, we would suggest claiming Ferguson if he’s available in your league.

Tyler Allgeier

Tyler Allgeier is only RB26 after the first two weeks, but don’t write him off as a fantasy asset. Atlanta is pounding the ball with Bijan Robinson and inevitably, Allgeier gets some reps as Robinson tires.

The former fifth-round pick had 80 scrimmage yards in Week 2. He won’t be in the receiving game as much as Robinson, but the Falcons like using him in the redzone, as evidenced by his touchdown last time out.

Just 12.9% of leagues have Allgeier rostered. He’s a decent streaming option in 12- or 14-team leagues and has top-five RB upside if Robinson is ever sidelined due to injury.
